Discipleship

If we were to put our purpose as a church into two words, those words would be "Make Disciples."  We believe that our core purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  Of course, there are many ingredients that go into making disciples, but we believe that discipleship is a journey that begins the moment one makes a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.

At the close of every Sunday morning worship service we offer an "Invitation to Discipleship," which is an opportunity for worshipers to profess faith in Jesus Christ, rededicate their lives to Christ, or join our church by either "Christian statement" or with the promise of a letter of recommendation from another church of like faith and practice.

Soon after individuals make a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we plan a time for for them to be baptized.  After baptism the serious work of Christian discipleship begins, and we believe that consistent participation in public worship and regular attendance in a Bible study group are essential elements in healthy discipleship.  This is why so much of what we do is designed to contribute to these needs.

However, we also provide opportunities for individuals to participate in occasional small group or church-wide discipleship events, which are designed to help people deepen and clarify their relationship with God.
