Missions

In addition to basic ministries like worship and Bible study, one of our most important emphases is missions.  One of our most important missions organizations is our Woman's Missionary Union.   Our Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) meets on the first Wednesday of each month, but it is divided into two smaller groups of Women on Mission that we call the "Afternoon Group" and the "Mission Action Group."  The Afternoon Group typically meets at Summit Place Assisted Living Center on Phifer Road here in Kings Mountain on the Monday after the first Sunday of each month, and the "Mission Action Group" customarily meets in the evenings of the same day at the home of one of the group's members.

Our WMU leads the church to participate in a number of missions projects, including ministry with the local Hospice chapter, a shoe box ministry and a community toy store at Christmas, and collecting food for the Baptist association or the local crisis ministry, just to name a few.

Our WMU also provides leadership for our Children in Action, which is a co-ed missions organization for children in grades 1-6.  This group meets every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., at the same time as the weekly youth gathering and the midweek worship for adults.  Under capable and committed volunteer leaders, this group of children learns about missions, helps raise money for missionaries, and engages in mission projects.  They also occasionally lead some part of our morning worship services as they grow in their commitment to God and Christ.

In September of 2006 we added a Men's Ministry Fellowship.  The men's ministry fellowship meets once per month at the same time that the WMU holds their monthly meetings (i.e. the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.).  Our goal for the future is that this fellowship will continue to offer our men the opportunity for shared spiritual growth and outreach to the community through missions ministries.

We are encourage each man to bring along a small contribution each month to add to our "ministry fund" so that we will be able to use to help support important ministry/missions projects that come to our attention.  In addition, we are expecting to have some special guests, who will speak to our group about missions projects, community needs, partnerships with other Baptist bodies, and the general spiritual health of our men.
